I'm back!

I know it's been forever since I put anything on here. I've been really out of it due to RL Stuff. I'm back and working hard. Have a fabulous book coming out Saturday from Silver called All in the Details. Picture, blurb, and excerpt on my web site akmmiles.com
I have missed checking in here and swear to get back to it.
I have been writing a lot and am into another book, this one for MLR (hopefully) and have another lurking in the back of my mind. I'm ready to get back into the swing of things.
How are things with everyone?
Take It Slow

Good morning, uh...afternoon

It kind of depends on when you go to bed, huh? Well, I'm finally up and ready to start this.

I want to ask my fellows, what do you listen to when you write?

If I'm really settled in and planning a long session, I put music on and I am so eclectic. I have everything from Justin Bieber to Il Divo to Dave Clark Five to Ludacris to Taylor Swift to Tony Bennett to Rascal Flatts to Gene Pitney to One Republic to ADAM Lambert. If I want it old school, I put on my old favorites...sigh..Time and Tide, Statue of a Fool, Where the Boys Are, My Coloring Book, Laughter in the Rain, Put Your Head on My Shoulder, Smile,Love Can Build a Bridge, My Special Angel,I'll Stand by You, True Colors, Will You Be There, Father Figure,Careless Whisper, A Piece of Sky,...I could go on for days.

As you can see it runs the gamut from Broadway to Rock to Hip Hop to Pop to Oldies to just whatever I like.

I used to teach and would have music on sometimes and a kid would say, "Yuk. I hate country music, or what's that? It sounds old." I tried to tell them to not focus on only one kind of music, broaden your minds, for heaven's sake, I'd say, you never know what's out there unless you give it a chance. They certainly got a lot of different kinds when I had a tape, yes, a tape, on.

So, who do you like to listen to? Do you listen while you write or do you have to have silence? Interesting to me to find out from others what they listen to as they create.

I have to take a friend of mine, an LOL down the street, to the grocery. If you read some of my books, you know LOL's are Little Old Ladies. I'm taking some photos to the next town to be put in an art show, too. Busy day.

I'll put on a bit about Take It EASY and Take It Slow, both of which are coming out in print now, too. This is one of my favorite series. Love these characters. More a little later...

Love to hear from you.

Take It Slow has arrived!

Well, here it is. Finally.

That's the link to my new book, Take It Slow, the sequel to Take It EASY. Daniel finally gets home, sort of. He's not ready to forgive his dad, despite the cool rescue by Nick, Easy, and Mano. They take him to Mama Sasy's and there he meets Benny, who helps him in many ways (like sleeping without nightmares!). They become close, he settles in at Mama Sasy's, but has a hard time warming up to her because she's so close to his dad. He's also not sure how he feels about the fact that his dad has spent the two years he's been in hell, helping out the young gay men at Mama Sasy's. It will all come right, but he'll have to take it slow.

It's been a long time coming, but Daniel was always in the back of my mind, wanting to come home. I'm glad to revisit the other wonderful characters at Mama Sasy's and meet some new ones, as well.

I hope you like it. I hope you all buy it and read it and let me know what you think. I love hearing from readers.

Another thing I'd like to hear is from you all: What do you watch, if anything, on Bravo or Logo? Do you find yourself looking at someone and thinking...I could so put him in a book? Or, does that happen to you in RL - Real Life? Recently I did several photo shoots, but one had a so very cool, gay interior designer, and I just watched him and listened to him and thought I'm going to use some of your story in my next book...you're perfect. If I had more courage I'd have told him so! Cute, talented, smart, well-spoken, creative, funny....yeah, he's gonna show up...a little, in the next one. That ever happen to you?

At the end of the day I will send a pdf copy of Take It Slow to someone who answers my posts. Let me hear from you.

By the way, it's 3:15 a.m. so I'll be back close to noon...as I'm not going to bed yet! Sorry. I'm all turned around...work...write better at night and sleep late. Bad, I know. I'll get up as soon as I can and check this.

Thanks to everyone at Torquere, especially Liz and Alessia, for helping get this out and looking just like I wanted. I so appreciate it.

I know. It's been a while...a long while. I'm getting back into things after losing my mom and then having two surgeries and redoing two rooms in my house. Whew.

I've got two books coming out this year and starting another. Right now I'm fine tuning Trick's Dante, which is another Scarcity book from MLR. I also have Take It Slow, which is a sequel to Take It EASY from Torquere. I am writing All in the Details for Silver. This all makes me one happy girl. I've missed being present here.

I'm going to do better...promise.

Gom has finally arrived!

I am so pleased to announce that For Gom's Sake is finally out from MLR Press. Here:

I'm very proud of his story. For those of you who love Gom from Soldier and Tommy's Story, he's a man now and what a story he has.

The same story will be coming out in a few weeks in a YA version called Undercover Assignment from Featherweight Publishing.

More good news? Soldier is being revamnp a little, getting a new cover, and will be out from MLR soon.

Hope you all check them out and let me know what you think.

Christmas story and news.

My new book comes out December 11th from Silver Publishing and I'm excited about it. I love the perfect cover by Reese Dante and the story is great for the holidays.

I'm still working on Gom's book. It's taking a while to get it right. He's very important to a lot of people and deserves to have a good story. The teen bullying he works with is a strong storyline and sometimes hard to write.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. I'm getting a bit of a vacation for a few days in Florida, leaving the snow and cold for warmer temps, and hopefully some sunset pics.

I hope everyone get and enjoys Something for Santa and, as always, please let me know what you think.

New Website is up and running!

I'm thrilled to announce that www.akmmiles.com is up and running and ready for people to come by and check it out. RJ Scott at SDF Website Design built it for me and we are both pleased with the results.

I've wanted a central location to share news and information about my work and this is it. I hope you like what we've done and will let me know what you think.

Anyone interested in getting in touch with RJ about doing one for you, here's her link. http://www.rjscott.co.uk/?page_id=364

This is just in time to promote my new book, Cold Winters.
